Product Review; Revlon Colorstay Lipbutters!

Hi everyone!
Today's blog is going to be about one of THE most talked about products on blogs, youtube, etc that I've seen in a while! and it is the Revlon Colorburst Lipbutters!

Now, living in the UK, I listened to beauty guru's in America talk and review this product for months and months before it came to England and when it finally did...to be honest it was all a bit confusing!
Revlon did not actually state a date (to my knowledge) of when it would be released and so it was only when I popped into Boots one day that I saw them and got VERY excited!

So onto a proper review...the Revlon Lipbutter's cost £7.99...a bit pricey for me which is the reason why I only bought one in a colour I knew I would use and then if I liked it, I could always get more :). They packaging is very nice as seen above and seems to correspond with the colour of the lip product...always handy! ;)

The colour I have is 095 Creme Brulee and is a nude colour which is why I thought it would be best for me as with my olivey skin tone, a good nude lip product is always nice!

So when applying the lip butter, I thought it was going to be a very creamy formula with a little bit of colour and to be honest for everyday this would be perfect for me.
HOW WRONG I WAS!
The lipbutter has sooooo much more pigmentation than I originally thought and is basically like a lipstick in terms of staying power and colour pay off which is a great thing since they have such lovely shades. However, I am not a wearer of lipglosses or anything sticky on my lips as it just seems to irritate me all day and was a little bit disappointed to see that the lipbutter was a little bit harder and sticker to apply to the lips and although it was REALLY moisturising, it was not as creamy as I'd hoped...I hope that makes sense haha.

But as you can see the colour is really beautiful and does stay on the lips for about 2 hours before you have to touch up. The lipbutter also does not have a smell which does not bother me in the slightest but if you like a smell this might be something to consider.

So to sum up...The Revlon Lipbutter has some gorgeous shades to suit every skin tone with a very moisturising formula BUT is slightly sticky and more like a lipstick than expected (which to be honest I think is a good thing!)
The price is a little high for me but I have a feeling it is going to last a long time so I guess I can let that one slide!

If you have any other questions or requests please leave them in the comments and I'll be happy to help!

Drugstore Everyday Make Up Routine for Oily Skin!

Hi everyone!
For today's blog, I'm going to be talking about my everyday make up routine...
Now, as said before, I have pretty oily skin, with a few blemishes and freckles which I do not try to cover up...I actually quite like them haha :)
So, I'm at school all day and the thing that I want most from my make up is that is lasts well, has a good coverage whilst looking natural and controls the oils from my skin.
After experimenting with MANY products, I think I've finally found a cheap and easy routine which does all these things...so enough chit chat, let's get into it!

The first thing I do in the morning is get up, wash my face and moisturise (skincare blog to follow soon! :)). After that I apply my only higher end product which is Clinique's Super City Block SPF 40.

This is basically a sunscreen for your face that is oil free and doesn't feel greasy at all! As I've got some discolouration on my skin, I need to protect it even more to prevent further darkening of the damaged skin so this product is an essential for me and at £16 is not too pricey!

The next thing I do is apply a primer, and not for keeping my make up on longer but to control my oily skin. For this I use No7's Shine Free Primer.

This is not like other typical primers as it is not silicone based and does not blend well at all...I'm not selling this very well haha but it is an amazing product for me. I apply this to my forehead, nose and chin (the places where I get most oily) and instantly the primer leaves it feeling smooth and matte and keeps it this way all day!

After this I start with make up and the first thing I do is apply my favourite foundation which is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in number 53. I have done a review on this already so if you would like to know the details please check that out :)

After this, I apply my Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer to any blemishes and blend it in with my ring finger. This is a really great concealer as it's quite full coverage but leaves a matte finish and does last a really long time!

After this I apply my Benefit Posie Tint, which I bought on eBay as I personally think the price for this was a little too much. Posie Tint is an amazing product which gives me a lovely flush on the cheeks and lasts all day!

On top of this, I apply my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. To be honest...this product does what it says, it mattifys my skin and sets my make up and is a good price...what's not to like?

Then, to warm up my complexion a little, I apply my Bourjois Bronzing Powder into the hollows of my cheek and around my temples. Especially in the summer, I love the look of slightly bronzed skin so this makes an amazing difference!

After finishing with my face, I apply a tinted lip balm, as I get REALLY dry lips all year round. For this I use Vaseline Rosy Lips which smells amazing and moisturises really well!

Then onto eyes...First I apply a couple of coats of my Loreal Volume Million Lashes in Extra Black. I bought this about a month ago as it was on offer in my local Superdrug and although I'd heard amazing things about it, I didn't find it as good as everyone else! Don't get me wrong, it's a good mascara, but when I've used it up...I think I'll be looking for another!

Eyeliner next...and this product is truly amazing! Soap and Glory Cosmetics Smoulder Kohl Eyeliner is £5 from Boots and is one of the creamiest, easiest to blend eyeliners I've ever used! It's so pigmented and doesn't smudge onto the skin. I use this in the waterline and tightline and it lasts all day!

Okay last product! I bought this a very long time ago from Superdrug and it's my Gosh Lipstick in the colour Darling. Just by looking at it, this lipstick looks very neutral beige but on the lips it comes out more of a pinky colour so beware! If your not careful, this can sink into the cracks in your lips and make them look a bit weird but if you apply a lip balm before its a great colour lipstick!

Andddddd that's it for my daily make up...if anyone would like an in depth review of any of these products please comment below...and thanks for reading!

Product Review; Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum!

So for my first review, I thought I'd try one of my favourite and most talked about drugstore products there is...(drumroll please)
BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX SERUM!

Now where to start with this product...I suppose I should start by saying that I LOVE IT...like my own child. Not that I have one, but it's that good. If you want to take a look at the website for what the foundation is for please check here; http://www.bourjois.co.uk/catalog/make_up/complexion/foundation/healthy_mix_serum_foundation

The healthy mix serum is sold for around £9.99 from Superdrug, Boots; all your normal places for and is available in 6 different shades.

 51-Vanille Clair

 52-Vanille

  53- Beige Clair

 55-Beige Fonce

 56-Hale Clair

 58-Hale Fonce

The packaging of the foundation is very cute and the pump makes it very easy and clean to apply.

It is a lovely formula that's not too thick and not too sheer and blends so easily whether you are using a brush or your fingers.

The smell of the product is absolutely AMAZING! The packaging says the foundation contains vitamin rich fruits such as lychee, goji berries and pomegranate and oh my god can you smell it when you apply it to your face.

Now onto the finish of the healthy mix. Although it does a very good job of evening out your skin tone and giving you a hint of colour, the coverage of 1 coat is not very high, but if you like a light coverage, this is perfect for you. However this is a very buildable foundation and if you feel you need more layers, then apply a pump or 2 more to your face. The finish is perfect for any skin type as it is not matte and not dewy. In fact I would call it more of a semi matte finish as it needs to be powdered just a tiny bit but does not leave your face feeling greasy at all, so it's perfect for all you oily skined girl's like me! :)

The one very small downside I have to this product is the "16H claim on the bottle". In my experience, even with power, primer and setting spray the foundation does not last as long as I would like it to and perhaps this is something to do with the gel consistency of the foundation. However, with a few touch ups during the day, your skin will look radiant and with an even complexion!

Thanks for reading and I hope you liked my first review! Please comment with requests and feedback!

ScarlettCosmetics Who?!

So, here we go for my first blog...
I suppose I should start by introducing what my blog is going to be about and all that fun stuff.
Although my blog name is ScarlettCosmetics, obviously this is not my real name nor will I be posting any pictures of my face on here, just for privacy reasons.
BUT! to make my blog more relateable I will start with this...
I am 18 years old and live in London, England and have a pretty big interest in make up, skincare and haircare and so decided to start this blog to help others in my situation.
What is this situation you may ask?
Like most 18 year olds, I have a part time job and do like to pay for as much for  myself as I can, however this means I do not have as much money to spend on cosmetics as maybe some others do.
So...this is where my blog comes in...
AFFORDABLE COSMETICS REVIEWS FOR ALL OF YOU THAT ARE BLOODY BROKE LIKE ME BUT STILL LOVE TO LOOK GOOOOOOOOD :)

I hope you all enjoy and please leave any requests you like and hopefully I will do my best to help you out!
Much love
